Acetaminophen Codeine tablets-manufactured by Faran Shimi Pharmaceutical Company– is supplied in 300mg Acetaminophen and 20mg Codeine tablets for oral administration. 10 tablets are packed in a blister and 10 blisters are packaged in one box with a leaflet.
Acetaminophen Codeine is used to ease mild to moderate pain.
• Use this drug as ordered by your doctor. Follow all instructions closely.
• Do not take more acetaminophen in a day than directed. Some people may take up to 4,000mg (milligrams) in a day if told to do so by the doctor. Some people (like people with liver problems and children. Here’s Why) should take less acetaminophen. Call your doctor right away if you have taken too much acetaminophen in a day, even if you feel well.
• Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach.
• Drink lots of non-caffeine liquids unless told to drink less liquid by your doctor.
• Do not take this drug with other strong pain drugs or if you are using a pain patch without talking to your doctor first.
• Talk to your doctor before you lower the dose or stop this drug. Tell your doctor if you have more pain, mood changes, thoughts of suicide, or any other bad effects.
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of these drugs:
• Buprenorphine, Butorphanol, Nalbuphine, or Pentazocine.
• Benzodiazepines drugs.
• Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine, Tranylcypromine, Selegiline, or Rasagiline (or other certain drugs for Depression or Parkinson’s disease in the last 14 days).
• Linezolid or methylene blue.
• Alcohol or products that have alcohol.
• If you are breast-feeding, do not breast-feed while you take this drug.
• This drug may cause harm to the unborn baby if you take it while you are pregnant. If you are pregnant or you get pregnant while taking this drug, call your doctor.
If you miss a dose of Acetaminophen Codeine, take your medicine when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at your regular time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time unless your doctor tells you to.
Misuse or abuse of this drug can lead to overdose. If you think there has been an overdose, call your doctor, pharmacist, or other health care provider right away.
• Do not use if you are allergic to Acetaminophen, Codeine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• Do not give to a child younger than 12 years of age. Children between 12 and 18 years of age who are very overweight or have other health problems (e.g. sleep apnea, lung or breathing problems) must not use this drug.
• Do not give to a child younger than 18 years of age who has had surgery to remove tonsils or adenoids. Talk with your child’s doctor.
• Before taking Acetaminophen Codeine, tell your doctor if you Have a/an: Lung or breathing problems like asthma, trouble breathing or sleep apnea, stomach or bowel block, liver or kidney problems.
• Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert until you see how this drug affects you.
• To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Be careful going up and down stairs.
• Avoid taking other products that have acetaminophen in them. Check labels closely. Too much acetaminophen may cause liver problems.
• This drug may affect certain lab tests. Tell your health care providers and lab workers that you take this drug.
• If you are 65 or older, use this drug with care.
All drugs may cause side effect. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or pharmacist if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away.
-Side effects require medical attention as soon as possible:
• Allergic reactions (rash, hives, swelling of the face, wheezing, tightness in the chest, trouble breathing).
• Signs of liver problems like dark urine, feeling tired, upset stomach or stomach pain, throwing up, or yellow skin or eyes.
• Very bad dizziness or passing out.
• Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat.
• Not able to pass urine or change in how much urine is passed.
• Change in eyesight.
• Agitation; change in balance; confusion; hallucinations; fever; flushing; muscle twitching or stiffness; seizures; shivering or shaking; sweating a lot; severe diarrhea; or severe headache.
-Side effects require medical attention if it persists or worsens:
Feeling dizzy, sleepy, tired, constipation, stomach pain, upset stomach or throwing up, dry mouth
