Noscapine is a non-sedative isoquinolone alkaloid derived from the Papaver somniferum, which has an analgesic, antitussive, and potential anti neoplastic activity. Noscapine inhibits mitosis by binding to tubulin and leads to tumor cell death and exerts its antitussive properties by activating Sigma receptors.
